LG is finally ready to launch its G8S ThinQ smartphone, an ever-so-slightly less powerful variant of its G8 flagship. The company said the G8S is going to be available this month in "select markets" in Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, among others.
Looking at the new phone's specs, you'd be hard pressed to position it as anything less than a flagship. It's got a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, a triple, 13/12/12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel camera combined with a time-of-flight sensor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 3,550mAh battery and Android 9.0 Pie.
Yes, the 6.2-inch OLED screen has a slightly lower resolution than the G8's 6.1-inch screen (2,248x1,080 vs. 3,120x1,440 pixels), but it makes up for it with the extra camera (the G8 only has two, though one of them has a 16-megapixel sensor).

As is typical of LG phones, the G8S is strong in the audio department, with a 3.5mm audio connector and stereo speakers on board.
The three rear cameras are an important spec bump, as the LG G8S has a main, f/1.8 camera, together with a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens -- roughly the standard for flagship phones these days.
Other specs of note include a fingerprint sensor on the back, face unlock, quick charging, as well as IP68 dust and water resistance.
The LG G8S will be available in black, teal and white. The price hasn't been announced.
