That sense of déjà vu you're experiencing is totally understandable.

It was just last week that Apple released iOS 14.5, and with it a host of new features for the iPhone. On Monday, Apple dropped yet another update — this time with key security fixes for the iPhone's operating system — and, yes, you really should download it today.

According to Apple, iOS 14.5.1 (and iPadOS 14.5.1) fixes two vulnerabilities which could give hackers the ability to run commands on a victim's phone. In other words, they're bad.

"Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution," the company says of the vulnerabilities' potential impact.

And the threat isn't just a theoretical one.

"Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited," continues the company.

Thankfully, updating your iPhone is easy. If you have an iPhone 6s or newer (sorry iPhone 6 holdouts!), simply plug your phone in and go to Settings > General > Software Update > and select Download and Install.

When it's finished downloading, go ahead and tell your phone to install the new iOS. That's it.

Oh yeah, and if you have one, go ahead and update your iPad's operating system to iPadOS 14.5.1. (Also update your Mac!)

There's nothing quite like starting your week off knowing that, at the very least, you took care of one important — if easy — task. This can be that. You're welcome.
