I've never looked at McDonald's regular Apple Pies with such disdain.

Because over in South Korea, Instagrammers are smugly posting pictures and videos of their latest treat -- oozy molten chocolate pies that just debuted this week.

It's so unfair.

McDonald's Korea calls this taste explosion the Rich Chocolate Pie, and it's priced at $1.80 (2,000 Won).

Naturally, social media has been flooded in the past couple of days with people heading out to break themselves a little piece of Instagrammable gold.

The outside crust is blistered, similar to the superior fried apple pie crust that McDonald's used to serve in the U.S., before it replaced it with a baked version in 1992. (Many other countries still get the fried one, by the way.)

So thanks to the fried crust, the Korean chocolate pie is flaky and crunchy, with a warm oozy centre.

McDonald's knows the chocolate pie is a cut above the old apple pie we often ignore, as evidenced by this unsubtle Instagram post it made before the launch.
