Over the weekend, players on the OverwatchPTR noticed that the game's crash logs referred to the upcoming update 1.13 as Doomfist/Summer Games, pointing at the return of the Summer Games event and the potential reveal of Doomfist, a mysterious, gauntlet-wielding character in the Overwatch universe. The first Summer Games event in Overwatchfell in line with the 2016 Summer Olympic Games last August, so it's likely to happen around the same time this year.

There is a set of posters on the map Numbani that show three different individuals wearing three different gauntlets, each referred to as Doomfist. This suggests that Doomfist isn't a single person, but a title given to people who wield powerful gauntlets. It also suggests that Doomfists have been both heroes and villains in the Overwatchuniverse.

In the lore of the game, the Doomfist gauntlet that was stolen from the payload on Numbani belongs to the second Doomfist, known as The Scourge, who was defeated by the hero Winston, according to the game's cinematic trailer.

The power of this Doomfist gauntlet was shown in the same trailer after a young kid says, "Oh man, they said he could level a skyscraper."

The Doomfist gauntlet was stolen from the Numbani payload in February just before the release of game's latest character, Orisa. Along with the theft of the gauntlet, somebody (probably Doomfist) appeared to have punched the life out of a bunch of defensive robots in the Numbani airport.

If Doomfist is in fact being added to the game this summer, expect some more teases around their arrival in the coming weeks.
