Users no longer have to go through the pain of unlocking their iPhone (or iPad, for that matter) every time they wanted to forward or rewind the YouTube video they are beaming on the TV.

The welcome feature comes as part of an update Google rolled out to YouTube on Thursday. Google isn’t limiting the new feature to its Chromecast, fortunately. It says users who wish to control YouTube playback on smart TVs and other devices such as gaming consoles can do so now from the lock screen.

With the update, Google is also enabling accessing controls for YouTube on a paired Apple Watch. Android users have long controlled everything from the lock screen and naturally it was one of the most sought after requests from iPhone users.
